Application guidelines for general presentations


Application requirements Presenters must be members (including corporate and student members) of the Society of Indoor Environment, Japan. There are no requirements for co-presenters. Non-members who wish to give a presentation are asked to submit an application for membership to the secretariat at the same time as the presentation application. However, this requirement does not apply for those whom the Society has requested to give a presentation.
Presentation application deadline 17:00 August 31, 2015
Registration information needed at time of presentation application 1. Presentation title (English)
2. Keywords (3-5 keywords)
3. Name, affiliation of presenter, and SIEJ member ID
4. Contact address and e-mail address
5. Name and affiliation of co-presenters (if they are SIEJ member, also member ID)
6. Indication of desired method: either an oral presentation or poster presentation
7. Desired presentation field (Choose the number and title of your desired field of presentation.)
8. Paper abstract (no more than 150 words)
9. Current plan to join the social-get together on Dec 3

Registration information will be printed in the presentation program as is. Please fill out your application carefully so that no changes will be needed later.

About presentations The executive committee will decide whether to accept applications for presentations and whether they can be given as an oral presentation or poster presentation. Please note that it may not be able to accommodate your request due to time and space constraints.


Presentation methods


Oral presentation
  • We are planning to allow 15 minutes for each presentation, including 10 minutes for the lecture and 5 minutes for discussion and changing of speakers.
  • These times are subject to change depending on the number of presentation applications received.
  • Presenters are asked to conduct presentations using PowerPoint (we plan to have the Windows version of PowerPoint 2010 available).
  • Presenters should operate the program by themselves.
  • Presenters should create a copy of their electronic presentation file on the computer set up at the reception desk by Thursday, December 3 and check to make sure the file works.
  • Be sure to run a virus check on the file BEFORE copying it.
Poster presentation
  • We plan to have time for three-minute oral presentations in the auditorium starting at 10:00 on Thursday, December 3. Please prepare.
  • There is no time for discussion.
  • Presenters are asked to conduct oral presentations using PowerPoint (we plan to have the Windows version of PowerPoint 2010 available). Presenters should operate the program by themselves.
  • Presenters should send a copy of their electronic presentation file to the organizing committee (organizationh27(アットマークを記入して下さい)siej.org) by 17:00 on Thursday, December 2 and check to make sure the file works.
  • Set up your posters between 9:00 and 12:00 on Thursday, December 3. The planned size of panels for hanging posters is 90 cm wide by 180 cm tall per panel.
Poster explanations
  • From 12:00 to 13:00 on Thursday and Friday, December 3-4, presenters are asked to be available beside their posters to provide explanations to visitors.
  • Note that the time for explanations may change according to the schedule. Please check the latest information via the Society's website or by contacting the secretariat.


How to submit a presentation abstract & manuscript preparation guidelines


How to submit a manuscript Download the guideline document which can be used as a template for manuscripts, and submit your manuscript (PDF format) through Web system (only in Japanese).
Submission deadline 17:00 September 30, 2015
Manuscript preparation guidelines 1. Two pages on A4-size sheets.
2. The manuscript should be prepared in Japanese or English using word processing software (as a general rule it should be saved as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file with the presenter's name used as the file name). Manuscripts in Japanese should include an English title. All manuscripts should include the author(s) name(s) in Roman alphabet, English abstract (no more than 150 words), three to five keywords, and the affiliations of all authors on the first page.
3. Pages should be in two-column format. Margins should be set at 25 mm on the top, 35 mm on the bottom, and 20 mm on the sides.
4. The title should be 12 point font, Times New Roman, centered.
5. The body should be about 10.5 point print type (Times New Roman).
6. Do not use footnotes. Do not include page numbers.
7. Indicate the main presenter by underlining his or her name.
8. In addition to the affiliation of the presenter and co-presenters, specify whether each person is a member of the Society, student member, or non-member.
